Mycology Monday Mood!
These beauties were found on a few different local walks over the last week.

1. Blusher - Poisonous when eaten raw, but edible when cooked for at least 5 minutes at a high heat. Great in bolognese.

2. King Alfred's Cakes - Not edible, but amazing fire lighters. Perfect for campfire cooking. This fungus has been used for thousands of years to transport and start fire.

3. Slender Parasol - Delicious in any dish, very tasty mushroom. Dries well for storage. The caps can get so large you can use them as pizza bases.

4. Dark Honey Mushroom - Edible, but toxic when raw. Some people can experience an upset tummy after eating honey mushrooms, so best to try a small amount only. They have a sweet and nutty flavour and are excellent sautéed, fried, in sauces, stews or for roasting.
